I'm currently using Visual Studio 2015 and Xamarin, for a cross-platform app. Backed up by Azure services. Well, TIL that If an update package for the Xamarin is corrupted, one can go to "%temp%", from the RUN (Win+R) menu and delete the corrupted package. I had the packages from 14Hxx in the 24th of april. I tried running the MSI directly and the same error came up (from when I started the installation from VS2015). So I deleted it and then went again to TOOLS/OPTIONS/XAMARIN/OTHER check the updates and it showed me "download and install" - being able to understand now that no package was found for that update. Solved.
